2009 Meeting and Program Schedule

Our monthly meetings are the first Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p. m. in Meeting Room 3 (Sister Janis Campbell Conference Room) of St. Vincent's Doctors Hospital.

February 3rd Meeting - John Bridges, department head at the Arkansas Arts Center Museum School, Photography, presented the program titled “Photography, Anything Goes!” in which he presented a slide show of his work, discussed how to take good photographs and how to photograph your own work. March 3rd Meeting - Robert Bean, Pastel Artist, currently exhibiting at
Gallery 26, spoke about his “High Contrast Compositions”; his unique style.

April 7th Meeting - Susan Hurst
presented the program
“Gallery Talk - What to Do and
NOT Do, to Get In a Gallery”. She
shared her experiences and
what she has learned about showing
work in a gallery.

May 5th Meeting - Internationally know pastelist Carole Katchen spoke and demonstrated.

June 2nd Meeting - Program presented by artist Pepper Pepper.

July 7th Meeting - Paint Around by four APS members.

August 4th Meeting - APS members chose one of four photographs to paint in their own style. Paintings were brought to the meeting and approaches, composition and style were discussed in each artist’s individual treatment of their paintings from the photographs.

September 1st Meeting - Shelia Cantrell, colored pencil artist, spoke emphasizing composition and design and presented a slide show of her work.

October 6th Meeting - The program was presented by Associate Professor of Art at Arkansas Tech University, David Mudrinich, who teaches drawing and painting.

November 3rd Meeting - Nationally known pastelist, Mike Mahon, demonstrated.

December 1st Meeting - Annual Holiday Meeting and Party.
